The steep trail up to AB Mountain gives you the best of both worlds - ocean and mountain views. The jaw dropping, 360 degree views of Taiya Inlet, Dyea, the town of Skagway, and the numerous peaks and glaciers won't disappoint you. You can choose to go as far as you like, either to the first viewpoint (10.6 km return), the second (12.2 km return) or even to the summit (17.4 km return) depending on the amount of time and energy you have.

The Denver Glacier hike is an easy hike through coastal rainforest for a peek at the Denver Glacier. The hike is accessible via a short train ride from Skagway, Alaska. It can be done in a day by coordinating the train drop-off and pick-up times, or better yet you can book the retrofitted 1960s caboose cabin and get the full experience.

Take the train to a cabin below a glacier! The Laughton Glacier is a short hike that can be done in one day, or as an overnight trip with a cabin to stay in. It is a well-developed trail leading to a view of the Laughton Glacier, spilling down between rocky peaks.

The Lower Dewey Lake Loop offers a nice coastal forest hike just above Skagway. Most of the initial elevation gain is at the beginning until you reach the lake. There are some nice picnic areas, camping spots and firepits along the loop.

Sturgill's Landing takes you through a nice array of landscapes. A walk through the forest, beside a lake, and down to the oceanside. There are basic camping facilities at the end of the trail.

Nestled below a cirque of rocky peaks and a glacier, Upper Dewey Lake is a breathtaking place for a picnic or an overnight hike. There are two cabins, one is free, the other can be rented, and there are picnic tables by the lake. The hike up to the lake is steep, but well worth the effort.
